Once upon a time, an egocentric prince refused refuge to an old lady during a storm, when she changes into a beautiful and powerful fairy he begs her for forgiveness but instead she changes him into a beast and all of his servants into furniture. His future is set on a flower when the last petal drops her stays a beast forever and his servants become true furniture. With each petal, a piece of the castle tumbles. The castle is also forever stuck in winter. He must find true love to be free. Belle (Emma Watson) lives in a small town in France where she's constantly ostracised by the fellow villagers because she is much more modern and smart than they are. She reads the only seven books of her small town and helps her father, Maurice (Kevin Kline) with his inventions. Belle is not only smart, she's also the most beautiful girl of the village which makes her the obsession of Gaston (Luke Evans) who wishes to marry her solely for shallow reasons. One day her father leaves town to show his invention, Belle asks him to bring back a rose. A tree falls on the road and he takes what he thinks is a shortcut. After being attacked by wolves, he takes refuge in a mysterious castle. Scared by the talking chipped cup (Nathan Mack) he leaves the castle and tries to steal a rose on his way out but he gets caught by the Beast (Dan Stevens). When Maurice's horse comes back she knows something is wrong and lets the horse guide her to the castle. She finds her father inside but the beast won't let him go so Belle takes the decision to exchange herself for her father. Maurice alerts the villagers of her daughters' disappearance but they take him for a madman. Gaston and LeFou (Josh Gad) decide to investigate but Gaston doesn't believe Maurice and loses his cool, he leaves him unconscious to be eaten by wolves. He's saved by the fairy disguised as a poor woman. He goes back to the town where Gaston convinces everyone Maurice is a crazy man and him orders that he is sent to an asylum. Meanwhile, in the castle, Belle and the Beast are not getting along and Belle tries to escape but gets attacked by wolves and the Beast saves her and she goes back inside. Slowly but surely the Beast & Belle learn about each other with the help of the talking-furniture-people. Belle learns what happened to the prince (he lost his mother at a young age and was corrupted by a selfish father which caused his Beast appearance) and Beast learns about Belle's past (they go to Paris through magic and learn how her mother died). Belle likes the Beast (and vice-versa) but the fact that she doesn't have her freedom holds her back. The beast, in an effort to please her, gives her a magic mirror where she can see whoever she wants. She sees her father who is violently forced on his way to the asylum. The Beast lets her leave because he is in love with her and gives her the mirror so she can always look back on him. Once she arrives at the village she shows the Beast to the villagers in a way to prove her father's mental health but once Gaston insists on killing the Beast, she defends him which gets her on the cart to the asylum. As the armed villagers go to the castle, Belle manages to get her and Maurice out and goes to the castle. At the castle, furniture fight villagers as Gaston makes his way at the top of the castle to find the Beast who decided that maybe life isn't worth too many efforts. When he sees Belle though, he fights for his life. He almost wins as Gaston is barely holding onto a couple of bricks but he saves him and goes to join Belle. Through all the fighting the fairy makes her way to the top. Gaston finds him and shoots him just before the bridge tumbles under him. The Beast dies in Belle's arms, and the last petal drops. All of the people stuck in furniture turn into inanimate furniture. The fairy sees Belle crying over her loved-one and revives him whilst changing him back into a human. All of the furniture go back to their human form. People are reunited and everyone ends happily ever after...
