A Christmas Prince (2017)-Summary

Here's the gem that Netflix brought to us. Spoilers ahead!

It's the story of a junior editor named Amber Moore (Rose McIver), after pressure from her boss she's sent to cover the arrival of prince Richard (Ben Lamb) of Aldovia to the throne. Even though Christmas means a lot to her, she accepts and goes to Aldovia. The prince is rumored to be a "womanizer", a little before the death of his father, the king, he leaves to visit the world and has been seen with several women. Amber leaves her hometown and her father to interview, when she arrives at Aldovia's airport a bearded stranger steals her cab. She then catches a ride to the castle where she and all the other reporters are stood up by the prince who didn't show up. Rumor has it the prince will abdicate the throne but no confirmation yet. Since her career is on the line, she decides not to leave like all the other reporters, she stays in the castle to look around. She gets caught and pretends to be princess Emily's ( Honor Kneafsey), American tutor. She then realizes that the bearded man who stole her cab was actually the prince. She struggles to bond with Emily as the princess feels that Amber is only pitying her since she has spina bifida (which means she's paralyzed from the waist-down) but it soon calms down. The prince shaves his beard and Amber magically feel ten times more attracted to him. She slowly learns to understand his character; he's a compassionate, generous and kind man. For example, he was supposed to make a statement to the press in regards to a foundation for orphans, when he didn't show up, Emily and Amber find him playing in the snow with the orphans in the backyard of the orphanage. Soon enough Emily finds out who Amber really is but instead of asking her to leave she asks her to write an article about the prince, the good person that the media won't show. Through the endless classy evenings, she meets new people such as Simon (Theo Devaney) and Sophia (Emma Louise Saunders). Simon is Richard's cousin and second in line to the throne, he's very envious of what Richard has. Sophia is Richard's ex-girlfriend who is very power-hungry. Amber tries to get more information and decides to follow the prince on his horse ride but her horse goes wild and she's abandoned in the stone cold forest. She's then saved by Richard from a hungry wolf. We get to know why the prince left Aldovia and Amber and the prince come close to kissing but as Richard was distracted out of sight, Amber discovers poem and she discovers that the prince was adopted and as such he cannot be crowned king. As they go back to the castle she thinks of telling him but is cut off-guard by a kiss and she then realizes he's the love of her life. While their out, Simon & Sophia search Amber's room and they find the adoption papers. On the night of the Christmas Eve ball everyone is prepared to crown Richard but low and behold Simon and Sophia reveal everything; Amber's real identity & the adoption papers all of which ensures the royal takeover by Simon and Sophia. As the two antagonists marry each other, Amber identifies all the clues in the poem and finds the paper the previous king made which dictates that Richard could be made a king. After her triumph, she directly goes home, writes her story and submits it. When her editor refuses to publish her piece, she quits and starts her own blog. The new year is here and guess who shows up? Her prince, asking her to marry him. She says yes.
