Doctor Strange (2016)-Summary
If you haven't seen the movies, I must warn you, spoilers ahead!
It all starts in New York when the brilliant surgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) loses his ability to use his hands during a car accident that left they forever trembling. Losing the ability to use his hands means he didn't have a job anymore. Stubborn as a mule, he spends all his money on consultations and alternate medicine leaving him very bitter and driving his only friend and ex Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) away. One day he learns about a case, the one of a certain Mr. Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt). A case -might I add- even the great Dr. Strange deemed hopeless. Jonathan Pangborn was a paraplegic and the hope of one day using his legs were immensely small but one day he just started walking again. He finds the man and he directs him to Pangborn where he meets Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) -after he saved him from this- and the Ancient one (Tilda Swinton). Dr. Strange is arrogant but The Ancient one shows him different dimensions, parallel universes and then kicks him out after he demands to be taught. She refuses and kicks him out of the temple because she fears he will turn out like her former disciple Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen). He waits outside until Mordo makes her change her mind. She starts teaching him, Strange is really driven but pompous which limits his results, he can barely even open a portal. TAO teleports him to the Everest where, if he can't portal himself back in under 2 minutes, will die. He manages to get out and fills his mind with books he takes from the library. Soon enough he has read almost all the books except for the one only for the most advanced, with those books he discovers the Eye of Agamotto. Mordo and the librarian Wong (Benedict Wong) stop him and tell him the risks of messing with the Eye, which controls time. Only 3 Sanctum Sanctorium exist in the world, they protect the world from spiritual dangers such as Dormammu, his only goal is to bring all the worlds in the dark dimension with him and he wants Earth even more than any other planets. TAO gets her eternal life from him and her old disciple wants the same for him and his accomplices and will do anything to get it. Kaecilius destroys the Sanctorium in London and makes his way to New York, where the Dr. is waiting for him, he manages to stop him for a while but gets injured and teleports himself to the hospital he used to work at and demands Christine to perform surgery before he dies at the same time revealing the power he gained on his journey. Kaecilius harms TAO who refuses to heal since she has broken her own rule to never trade with the dark world. That leaves Strange and Mordo to fight for the world. Making their way to the last Sanctum in Hong Kong but they arrive too late. The Dr. uses the Eye of Agamotto to go back in time and meets with Dormammu who kills him instantly not knowing Strange created a time-chain in which both of them are stuck unless they arrive at an agreement. At first, Dormammu refuses to listen and continues to kill him over and over again but he's getting irritated and decides to make a deal, he will never come close to Earth. Villains are vanquished and both Wong and Stephen are satisfied but not Mordo who insist that the order of nature was violated and everyone who disrupts the nature must pay. Mordo goes to Pangborn and strips him of his powers and tells him he is only the first of his list.
